RETROSPECT OF MY LIFE AT NTUT.

The dreams of achieving my academic goals in Taiwan dated back to June 2006 when i was awarded a government scholarship. Upon arrival at the Taoyuan Airport, we received a warm welcome from NTUT officials, our Embassy officials here in Taiwan, faculty members. and Local Students. The entire Gambian students owe International Students Office and the local students a debt of gratitude for their support.

i knew that there will be a lot of challenges, but am a very strong man and i was up to face any challenges comes on my way. Academic expectations were high, imaginations were high, and in my dreams sometimes I imagine how to full fill those high expectations and imaginations bestowed on us by the people and Government of The Gambia. The first Semester was a turbulent moment for every one of us. physics, and Calculus were a nightmare. Was it that we were loath to work hard? of course no!initially there were some obstacles such as culture difference, different learning environment, different in taste of food. Bulkiness of the course materials, and most importantly, language barrier.
whenever night falls, I miss my Mum, dad, siblings, friends, and The Gambia. I miss my mum's delicious dishes whenever the lunch time comes as I' m not used to Taiwanese food. I wondered if i could adapt to the life and environment in Taiwan.

Did i only difficult moment in NTUT? After the first semester, i had a wonderful and happy campus life. I gradually accustomed myself to everything through the help of my classmates and Taiwanese friends. This was only possible by integrating myself into the Taiwanese society and learning the basic Chinese as soon as i could both in Class and at the Chinese corner organized by the language department of NTUT. I made a fruitful transition and excelled academically. The Professors and my Classmates were very helpful both in and out of the classroom. I spend most of my time in the Library and during the examinations, i stayed in the Library for 24hrs. The strength of NTUT lies in experience, excellent pedagogical skills, and motivational influence of the Professors teaching the various courses.

Within 4 years i visited several cities, and some important areas around Taiwan such as Taipei 101, the second tallest building in the world, Ali shan to see sun rise, Sun Moon Lake, Taoyua, Kaoshuing, Danshui just to name the few.

As rated to be one of the best Universities in Taiwan, i had a wonderful time studying there and realized that Taiwan especially NTUT is one of the best places in the world for one to acquire knowledge. I Love Taiwan, Taiwanese people, culture, and the food. Having made a great set of friends both on and off campus, NTUT is like a second home for me, the President, Professors, faculty staff, students, as well friends made me feel like being with my family. NTUT have made me improve and grow up.

As Pioneers of The Gambia Information technology, we would like to return back home to explore our experience gained in the course of our study here in Taiwan. We also hope that our contribution will bring in change to the Socio-economic development of The Gambia our IT Industry.

i will surely miss Taiwan and its people, NTUT and its environment.
